Here it is... April already, and we welcome another season of Route 66 travellers to Seligman, Arizona! Last month we encouraged our readers to consider Seligman as a destination because of the affordability of its clean comfortable rooms. Keep in mind that Seligman is a 3-hour drive from Las Vegas as well as a 3-hour drive from Phoenix. Seligman is also situated about 2 hours from The Grand Canyon.
Seligman also offers tourists a wonderful restaurant selection. This includes homemade pizza at The Stage Coach Route 66 Motel's Pizza Joint, a full menu at the Copper Cart, chargrilled entrees at The RoadKill Cafe, and Westside Lilo's German and American food. Enjoy the famous burgers at The Snow Cap or a light meal at J&R's Mini-Mart. You can also find quick meals at Seligman's A&W and Subway.
Our well-known trademarked espresso and gourmet coffee, along with muffins and light snacks are available at our full service coffee bar in The Historic Seligman Sundries. We also offer delicious hand-dipped ice cream in our thick ice cream milk shakes and malts, and our single or double-scoop ice cream cones are a popular choice for ages of all kinds! Fruit smoothies are also available in a variety of luscious fruit flavors.
When you have a chance, take a look at our website www.seligmansundries.com to view photos of our town.
Also, we invite you to watch a video at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Gx8DMkWOQs featuring our establishment that you might have visited when travelling through Seligman.
Sincerely,
Frank and Lynne

As in the past, we will start the festivities in Seligman on Friday with registration, music, entertainment, and checking out the sights of Seligman.
Saturday morning the vehicles will start to line up in Seligman in preparation for the start of the FUN RUN to Kingman. Since this is not a timed event please feel free to stop along the way to enjoy refreshments, western dance, sample the Hualapai Tribe BBQ and check out the other vehicles as they cruise by.
Upon arrival in Kingman sometime in the afternoon we will be lining up the vehicles (not only cars but busses, vans, cycles and RVs) on Route 66 and at the Powerhouse for viewing and fun judging. Entertainment, activities and vendors all day. Evening activities, downtown Kingman activities and entertainment sponsored by the Downtown Merchants Association.
Sunday morning the vehicles will line up for the run to Topock/Golden Shores for the final get-together and awards. Again, not a timed run so there is plenty of time to stop along the way with Oatman being a fun place. We promise to have each and every

We had the pleasure of meeting many wonderful people visiting Seligman last summer, and one such family was Eric and his family from France. Eric shared his experiences of travelling Route 66 with us... here is Eric's profile.
"About me. Well I'am a 41 years old french pilot who really love to have good time in the south west of USA. This is why we met each other last summer. We planned a great trip from San fransisco to Lax via Yosemite, Las Vegas, Page, and the route 66 to California.
My wife and my two kids (Thibault 12 and Clara 8) did enjoy a lot.
As I told you I do fly for Air France ( the great 777 ) and I can visit a lot of different places."
This past Fall Eric rented a private airplane and took the aerial photograph of Seligman which we've included in this newsletter.
We've added an organic coffee to our coffee menu. This organic coffee is a robust, dark roast Peruvian coffee.
We invite you to begin your morning with our newest blend -- Rancharoo (rhymes with Buckaroo). This shade grown, organic coffee is cultivated at the highest altitudes of the Andes Mountains and offers a sweet medium body and medium acidity, making this coffee very special. Rancharoo is wonderful as a breakfast brew or an after-dinner cup of coffee.

In the next few issues, we will continue to present some interesting history and facts about our Unites States of America flag. This is the third in our series of articles:
On June 14, 1777, Congress made the following resolution: "The flag of the United States shall be thirteen stripes, alternate red and white, with a union of thirteen stars of white on a blue field ..." Official announcement of the new flag was not made until September 3, 1777. When it was first flown has not been determined. Historical research has failed to establish a factual foundation for the traditional story that the flagmaker Betsy Ross made the first American flag.
To be continued in next month's newsletter....
